2006 Campaign

The following documents are from our 2006 Campaign against Amendment 2.

Our 2006 Campaign involved the circulation of our first research publication, as well as a series of print ads which ran across the state (see all documents below). The research publication takes readers through the fine print of Amendment 2. There are vital definitions housed within the Amendment 2 text which drastically change the meaning of the amendment. These definitions were obscured to voters because they were not included in the ballot summary that voters read in the voting booth, nor was much of it included in the pre-election brochures that Amendment 2 proponents circulated prior to the vote. Deceptive language then, as now, is one of the biggest obstacles in our fight against Amendment 2. However, we are confident that the truth can still be heard amidst the confusion so Missourians don’t have to suffer the consequences of this law: millions in mandatory public funding of human cloning and stem cell research, including embryonic stem cell research.
